This Cranberry Molasses Mulled Wine recipe is perfect for chilly winter evenings or big holiday events. Serve it with a few orange slices and fresh cranberries for a stunning presentation.
First off, I didn’t post yesterday because I was with family but I just want to say that I am so thankful for all of you here! So many of my favorite opportunities would not be possible with VV and VV would not be possible without all of you. You are the best.
And happy BLACK FRIDAY! Did you wake up at 2 AM to wait in line for that new laptop? Oh wait, I’m still living in 2001 – stores open at like 8 PM on Thanksgiving now. Or does everyone just do their Black Friday shopping online these days? I’ll admit that I’m guilty to snagging a few deals today on CB2 and West Elm for our new house (which we are closing on in ONE WEEK! eeeep!).
While we are talking about holidays, this recipe is from my cookbook, Vegetarian Heartland, and to say thank you for all your support this year, I’m giving away TWO copies over on my Instagram right now. In the true Black Friday fashion (or am I the only one who shops for myself on BF??, I thought two would be a good idea so you can keep one and then give one away as the perfect Christmas gift! Because let’s be real, why would an adventure cookbook filled with veg-focused recipes for every occasion not be the perfect gift for most people on your list? Do they like delicious food? check. Do they like going on adventures (big and small)? Check. Do they like gorgeous photos? Check. Do you like deals – like snagging a book for 30% off? Check. Do you like being able to brag about knowing this girl who writes about food all the time and made this cookbook? Check again! Needless to say, this cookbook is perfect for holiday gifting.
If all of the above wasn’t proof enough that you need this cookbook in your life, I bet this Cranberry Molasses Mulled Wine recipe will be. It’s easy to make and can be prepared in big batches which makes it ideal for both low key chilly evenings or big holiday events. It’s sweetened with molasses and has a spicy kick from an array of mulling spices. In my family, we like to serve with appetizers at Christmas after all the gifts are opened but before the big feast happens. Depending on your relationship with your family, it might be a good idea to serve this even earlier but I’ll leave that call up to you. ; )

Mulled wine is a warm drink usually made with red wine and a handful of mulling spices. I grew up with a German version called glühwein, but countries all over the world have their own version. Mulled wine is an essential in our home during the freezing winter months as it warms the chilled body while also being delicious and festive. This version’s secret ingredient is molasses, which is the perfect sweet coun- terpart to the bright orange zest and tart red wine.
