FTSE Mondo Visione Exchange's Index Down 0.1% In March, Up 1.4% In First Quarter (2024)

In the first quarter of 2024, markets were attuned to the balance between decreasing macroeconomic risks and escalating geopolitical tensions. These opposing forces could lead to sharp reversals, heightened volatility, and market dislocation. A retreat in market sentiment could occur as these dynamics unfold.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director of Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index said: "CME Group has long been recognised as a powerhouse in the global exchange arena. However, signs of vulnerability are beginning to show in its once unassailable dominance. The CFTC approved a proposal in January that permits the trading of U.S. Treasury and SOFR futures on FMX, a platform owned by Howard Lutnick's BGC Group. This move signals BGC's emergence as a potential challenger to CME. However, immediate competition remains between ICE and CME, which are fiercely battling to become the largest exchange through market capitalisation. Currently, ICE appears to have the upper hand, thanks to a surge in its energy complex, a bullish outlook in its fixed-income business, and a series of client acquisitions in the mortgage sector."
